Celebrating Paolo Moschino
Last year we had little day trip down to Chelsea Harbour during design week to see a conversation between the fabulous Paolo Moschino and Mariella Tandy, Tatler’s retail editor. It was so inspiring and we now have a few projects that are definitely inspired by Paolo. Despite being Italian, Paolo has completely embraced our English style and heritage to create a very unique style which is easily recognisable.
We thought that we’d share with you a few of our favourite rooms.
Not only is this room wonderful in its continued use of a similar pattern and shade of blue but we love how rather than the white shelves being plonked on top of such an intricate wallpaper, the pattern has been hand painted over. This is such a simple idea which helps to settle an otherwise obvious feature into the space.
These beautiful table lamps are part of Moschino’s new range and work wonderfully with these thin line portraits which mirror the style perfectly. This attention to detail shows just why he is one of the top interior designers in the world right now.
With such a small space it’s always tempting to go with a small print so as not to overpower the room. However as Moschino shows here in his own guest bedroom, by sticking to one large print and a simple colour pallet it really can work. The same shade of red is continued throughout, even in the Regency portrait! This is a great piece of advice, if you have pieces of loved artwork then use them to inform and inspire the design of your home.
By using the nautical colours, red coral instead of flowers and a piece of art featuring a boat, you can tell immediately that this is a seaside home in Cornwall. However Moschino has achieved this without making the design feel themed by keeping to these few classic elements and the rest of the space very clean and simple.
